The company did not charge a reservation deposit for many years, and simply required customers to give us advanced notice of cancellations or reschedulings. Unfortunately, we've seen an increase in cancellations at the last minute over the past few months. As with many other small businesses in the UK, we incur expenses due to last-minute cancellations.
As a result of a customer choosing not to move at the last minute or not opening the door upon arrival, we incur losses such as lost opportunities, wages, fuel, and vehicle amortization. Unfortunately, after analyzing our losses, we decided that we could not continue to absorb these expenses, and created a refundable reservation deposit to protect ourselves from further expenses.
